Microsoft have announced that they are to release a new Zune player to try and contend with Apple’s iPod Touch.
The Zune player will have a 3.3″ touch screen and will host HD Radio, HD Video, XBox 360 compatibility and inbuilt Wi-Fi features.

My prediction is that the Zune will continue to not be hugely successful. The iPod touch controls this market with over 13 million units sold. Microsoft’s hold on the OS market is dipping with more people making ‘the switch’ from Windows to Mac after Microsoft’s ‘blow-out’ with Windows Vista and Apple’s unpresidented publicity.
Apple controls the music player market with the iPod and for the foreseeable future they will continue to do so.

Totally disagree. The Zune has already almost caught up with the iPod after just 6 months market presence. It’s lack of an international market that’s limiting growth and giving Apple ammo towards their misleading marketing. Meh.
Everyone you see on the train, or in town has an iPod on them. I’ve never seen someone with a Zune. I think the design is worse, I just don’t like it. Just my opinion of course.
That’s because the Zune doesn’t exist in the UK. Yet.
I doubt you’ve ever seen one in person.
If they don’t exist in the UK how can they have ‘almost caught up with the iPod’?
According to http://www.cliczune.com:
‘the Zune only has a 4% market share. Compare that to Apple’s 71% share, and it looks even worse. While they have sold 3.2 million Zunes overall, Apple has sold 170 million iPods, which continue to move at the brisk rate of 250,000 per day’
Yeah it’s looking close
